Introduction
Capsicum annuum (Capsicum annuum L.), an annual or limited perennial herbaceous plant of the Solanaceae family, is native to Mexico and introduced to China in the late Ming Dynasty. The fruit is usually conical or oblong, green when immature, and bright red, green or purple when mature, with red being the most common. The fruit of capsicum has a spicy taste because the peel contains capsaicin, which can increase appetite. The content of vitamin C in chili is the first among vegetables. Chili powder (also spelled chile, chilli, or, alternatively, powdered chili) is made from the dried and pulverized fruit of one or more varieties of chili pepper, which is an important vegetable and seasoning. Capsicum seed oil is edible, and the fruit is also effective in repelling insects and sweating.
