Introduction of Ashwagandha Extract
Ashwagandha is known as the king of Ayurvedic herbs.
"Ashwagandha" is Sanskrit for "the smell of horses," referring to the herb's odor and its potential for empowerment.
Its botanical name is Withania somnifera, and there are several other names, including "Indian ginseng" and "winter cherry". It is a small shrub with yellow flowers that is native to India and Southeast Asia.
Withanolides are a class of C-26 carboxylic acid lactones with a basic backbone of ergosteranes containing 28 carbon atoms. The extracts and chemical constituents of South African Drametes have a wide range of pharmacological activities, withanolides being the main active ingredient, especially Withaferin-A, which is the most studied and most prominent, and its neuroprotective and anticancer activities have certain research and application prospects. Withaferin A, Withanolide D, Withalongolide A and their analogues have also been found to have anticancer activity. Withaferin-A and Withanone have the potential to inhibit TMPRSS2 receptors and proteases in SARS-CoV-2 host cells, and Withaferin-A has been shown to reduce fulminant hepatitis by targeting macrophages and NLRP3.
Function of Ashwagandha Extract
Ashwagandha is known for its ability to reduce stress and anxiety.
It possesses an adaptogen, a substance that helps the body cope with stress.
This helps control stress mediators, including heat shock protein (Hsp70), cortisol and stress-activated c-Jun N-terminal protein kinase (JNK-1).
It also reduced the activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, the system that regulates stress responses in vivo.
Supplements of Ashwagandha, a South African herb traditionally used to reduce stress and enhance well-being, help relieve stress and anxiety.
This herb enhances physical functions, including strength and oxygen use during exercise.
Ashwagandha may improve physical fitness, including muscle strength and mass, in athletes and healthy adults.
Ashwagandha may improve cognitive impairment in patients with bipolar disorder.
