Haematococcus pluvialis is an astaxanthin-rich microalgae. It is a single-celled double flagellate green algae that can carry out autotrophic and heterotrophic life. Haematococcus pluvialis, which does not accumulate astaxanthin, is indeed green, when a certain amount of astaxanthin accumulates in its spores, it turns red. Because of this characteristic, it is named Haematococcus pluvialis, hence the name Haematococcus, and because it is the rain sound species in green algae, it is called Haematococcus pluvialis. Many studies have shown that the astaxanthin accumulation rate of Haematococcus pluvialis is high, the ratio of astaxanthin and its esters (about 70% monoester, 25% diester and 5% monomer) is very similar to the ratio of aquaculture animals. This is the advantage that astaxanthin extracted by chemical synthesis and fermentative yeast does not have. In addition, the structure of Astaxanthin in Haematococcus pluvialis is mainly 3s-3s, which is similar to that in salmon and other aquatic organisms.

Haematococcus pluvialis is recognized as the best astaxanthin-producing organism in nature. The average astaxanthin content of Haematococcus pluvialis is about 10.0 g/kg ~ 40.0 g/kg. The astaxanthin content of Haematococcus pluvialis can reach more than 5% under the optimal culture condition. Astaxanthin from Haematococcus pluvialis is a natural synthetic astaxanthin with strong antioxidant activity. The composition of the esters in astaxanthin is similar to that in aquatic organisms. At present, Astaxanthin extraction from Haematococcus pluvialis is the main way for human to obtain natural astaxanthin, although astaxanthin exists in many algae, fish and shrimp, but Haematococcus pluvialis is recognized as the best natural astaxanthin biological source, no one.

Due to the asymmetry of the hydroxyl carbon chain in the molecular structure of Astaxanthin, there are many CIS and trans enantiomer structures. Astaxanthin synthesized from Beta-carotene is usually in cis-form. FDA only allows Astaxanthin with trans-form to be used in food production and prohibits the use of astaxanthin as a food additive. The bioavailability, stability, colouring effect, biosafety and antioxidant activity of chemically synthesized astaxanthin are far less than those of natural astaxanthin at present, there are already large multinational companies in the market of chemical synthesis of astaxanthin products, mainly used as feed additives.

Physiological effects

Haematococcus pluvialis can replace B-carotene, Proanthocyanidin, lycopene and so on, becoming by far the strongest anti-aging factors. In addition to highlighting its ability to slow aging, Haematococcus pluvialis targets diseases caused by air oxidation, such as cancer, cerebral ischemia and stroke, inflammation, eye diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, central nervous system diseases, blood diseases and respiratory diseases, etc. , all have very good preventive or curative effect, comprehensive its ability, specific performance in the following several levels.

1, the elimination of free radicals, improve the ability of anti-aging

Astaxanthin is one of the most effective natural antioxidants. Its main function is to scavenge free radicals and improve the anti-aging ability of human body.

In the human body, free radicals are formed when oxygen binds to complex metabolic molecules. Free radicals are highly unstable molecules that can bind to anything that reacts at any time. When they react, they produce“Oxidation”. Once the oxidation process has begun, it causes a chain reaction that produces more free radicals.

If we let free radicals grow freely, our bodies will be like oxidized apples. Both in and out of the body, they can oxidize and be damaged by free radicals, which can age our skin in vitro-causing wrinkles, dryness-and even cause skin cancer. As we age, free radicals damage the strength and elasticity of our muscles.

2. Great penetration

Natural Astaxanthin can penetrate the blood-brain barrier, the blood-pancreas barrier and the blood-testis barrier, which are the three major human Carotenoid, the only Carotenoid between brain cells and the eye's retina.

3. Transmembrane stability

The natural astaxanthin Lipid bilayer across the Lipid bilayer of the cell membrane, protecting phospholipid molecules from oxidative damage and ensuring the stability of the cell membrane, this significantly lengthens the life span of the cells.

4. Super Absorbency

Because astaxanthin molecular weight of 596.8, even with the ester groups at both ends of less than 1000 Daltons, easily absorbed by the human body, can quickly reach the human body organs.

A lot of studies have shown that astaxanthin can improve the function of every system in human body. Such as for the human nervous system, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular system diseases have good treatment effect, can delay skin aging, prevent skin aging, can reduce oxidative damage to joints, improve muscle tolerance, rapid recovery of exercise fatigue, can effectively inhibit the growth of cancer cells have a direct inhibitory effect.

5.Eye and central nervous system protection

Astaxanthin can pass through the blood-brain barrier, effectively preventing the oxidation of the retina and the damage of photoreceptor cells, this suggests that Astaxanthin is effective in preventing and treating age-related macular degeneration and improving retinal function, and that Astaxanthin has the ability to protect the central nervous system, especially the brain and spine, it is effective in treating ischemic reperfusion injury, spinal cord injury, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's central nervous system.

6. UV protection

The strong antioxidant activity of astaxanthin can be used as a potential photoprotective agent to prevent the photoaging of skin. Astaxanthin can effectively remove free radicals from aging skin caused by computer radiation, environmental pollution and smoking, delay skin aging, and protect cell membrane and mitochondrial membrane from oxidative damage, to protect cells from oxidative damage.

7. Inhibit cancer

Astaxanthin can significantly inhibit the early carcinogenesis induced by chemicals, and has anti-proliferation and immune enhancement effects on epithelial cells exposed to carcinogens, such as inhibiting the growth of bladder cancer, oral cancer, colon cancer, gastric cancer and breast cancer. Astaxanthin also reduces the carcinogenicity of aflatoxins and is effective in reducing the number and volume of aflatoxins-induced liver cancer cells.

8.Anti-inflammatory properties

Astaxanthin's powerful antioxidant properties can help inhibit free radicals and reduce oxidative damage to joints.

9. Ease exercise fatigue

Astaxanthin can also increase muscle strength and muscle endurance, quickly restore exercise fatigue, reduce the intensity of exercise after delayed onset muscle pain (DOMs) .

10.Prevent cerebrovascular disease

Astaxanthin has the effect of raising high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and lowering LDL in the body. Astaxanthin can reduce the oxidation of apolipoprotein and can be used as a preparation to prevent arteriosclerosis, coronary heart disease and ischemic brain damage.

Safety of Astaxanthin from Haematococcus pluvialis

The safety of Astaxanthin from Haematococcus pluvialis has been recognized by many countries. At present, Astaxanthin has been used internationally to develop advanced nutritional health care products, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics for human beings, its product orientation is mainly in regulating immune system function, preventing cancer, protecting retina from ultraviolet radiation and photooxidation damage, anti-inflammation, preventing oxidation damage of LDL and so on.

A large number of studies have proved that natural astaxanthin preparation of Haematococcus pluvialis has potential physiological regulation effect in human body The structure of astaxanthin increases the stability and mechanical strength of cell membrane, and provides an important theoretical basis for anti-oxidation, prevention of cancer, cardiovascular disease and chronic Degenerative disease It has a broad application prospect in regulating body function and maintaining human health

Astaxanthin is the strongest natural antioxidant found so far, its antioxidant capacity is vitamin E 550 times! Haematococcus pluvialis owes its extraordinary vitality to the protective shield of Astaxanthin

This is because between the spores of Haematococcus pluvialis and astaxanthin, separated by a thick cell wall, astaxanthin can not penetrate the cell wall, acting on the spores outside. In order to be ingested and absorbed by human body, astaxanthin must be extracted from the wall-broken Haematococcus pluvialis.
