What is the role of cyclic adenosine monophosphate?

What is Cyclic adenosine monophosphate(cAMP)?

Adenosine cyclophosphate is an organic substance with the chemical formula C10H12N5O6P, a white crystalline powder. It is used for angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, myocarditis and cardiogenic shock. It is useful for improving the symptoms of palpitations, shortness of breath and chest tightness in rheumatic heart disease.

Cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) is an important substance involved in the regulation of substance metabolism and biological functions in cells, and is the "second messenger" of life information transmission. In vivo, it can promote the survival of cardiomyocytes, enhance the ability of cardiomyocytes to resist injury, ischemia and hypoxia; promote the flow of calcium ions into cardiomyocytes, enhance phosphorylation, promote excitation-contraction coupling, improve cardiomyocyte contractility and increase cardiac output; at the same time, it also dilates peripheral blood vessels, reduces cardiac ejection impedance, reduces cardiac anterior and posterior loads, increases cardiac output and improves cardiac function. It also dilates the peripheral blood vessels, reduces the ejection impedance of the heart, reduces the anterior and posterior loads on the heart, increases the cardiac output and improves the cardiac function. In clinical practice, it is mainly used for the treatment of cardiac insufficiency, angina pectoris and myocardial infarction. Especially for patients who are toxic or insensitive to cardiac drugs of digitalis type. Cyclic phosphoadenosine entering cells is degraded by phosphodiesterase into 5-adenosine-5′-phosphate (5-AMP) inactivation after exerting biological effects, which in turn is broken down into adenosine and phosphate. It is a protein kinase activator and a derivative of nucleotide. It is a physiologically active and important substance widely found in the human body, produced by adenosine triphosphate catalyzed by adenylyl cyclase, and can regulate a variety of functional activities of cells. As a second messenger of hormone, it plays the role of hormone regulation of physiological function and substance metabolism in cells, can change the function of cell membrane, promote the calcium ions in reticuloplasm to enter into myofibrils, thus enhancing myocardial contraction, and can promote the activity of respiratory chain oxidase, improve myocardial hypoxia, relieve coronary heart disease symptoms and improve electrocardiogram. In addition, it plays an important role in the regulation of sugar and fat metabolism, nucleic acid and protein synthesis.
