What is black tea extract good for?

Black tea has the highest content of theaflavin among all teas, and black tea is characterized by the enzymatic oxidation of tea polyphenols during the processing process, which results in a large change in the composition of the fresh leaves.

Nutritional composition of black tea

Polyphenols: It is mainly composed of catechins, flavonoids, anthocyanins and phenolic acid components. Catechins have the highest content, accounting for about 70% of the total tea polyphenols.

Theaflavin: It is the product of the oxidation and condensation of tea polyphenols and their derivatives, and is the main active ingredient in black tea, generally 0.4-2%. Theaflavin is the determinant of the quality of black tea, and has a variety of biological functions, known as the "soft gold in forbidden leaves".

Amino acids: The amino acids in tea exist in two forms. One is in the protein, that is, the amino acids that make up the protein. The other is in the free state in the leaves, called free amino acids.

Alkaloids: The alkaloids in tea are mainly divided into two types: ringyin bases and kadanthen bases. Rinzing alkaloids include caffeine, theobromine, theophylline, yellow drifting gin, sub-yellow drifting gin, yellow glancing gin, glandular glancing gin, uppen glancing gin and other eight types. The most content is caffeine, accounting for about 3-5% of the total; followed by theobromine, accounting for 0.05% of the total, again the theophylline, accounting for about 0.002%, the other drift ringyin content is very low. Therefore, many scholars take caffeine as a proxy for alkaloids in tea

Soluble sugar, theaflavin, theaflavin, pectin, etc.

Our Black Tea Extract contains 20-40% theaflavin.

Theaflavins (TFs) is a general term for a class of compounds with benzodiazepine structure formed by the oxidative condensation of catechins, which is the main quality component of black tea. Theaflavins have strong physiological activity, with antioxidant, anti-aging, anti-cancer, anti-mutagenic, anti-viral, hypolipidemic, hypoglycemic, prevention of cardiovascular disease and anti-bacterial effects.

Anti-glycation

Numerous studies have shown that AGEs cause lesions in the following ways

1. AGEs directly form cross-linked substances with proteins, resulting in changes in protein structure and function

The AGEs bind to the corresponding receptors on the cell surface to transmit signals into the cell, altering the levels of soluble signaling molecules such as cytokines, hormones and free radicals, causing cellular effects. In human tissues, AGEs structures are found in the tissue proteins where lesions occur, therefore, the accumulation of excessive AGEs in the body is closely related to diabetes, chronic diseases, and human aging.

Our brother company, in conjunction with the Institute of Food Biotechnology and Safety of Ningbo University, conducted a study on the inhibitory effect of black tea powder 5% theaflavin on a-glucose primase activity in vitro.

The study showed that the inhibition rate of a-glucomannanase by black tea powder provided by our sister company was better than that of acarbose at the same concentration.

Our black tea powder showed the highest inhibition rate and highest inhibitory activity against a-amylase at the same concentration.

Experiments showed that all black tea powder provided by Brother at 10 mg/ml concentration had better anti-AGES activity, which was significantly better than commercially available black tea powder, and the AGEs inhibition rate showed positive correlation with theaflavin content.

Anti-aging

We found through experimental analysis that our black tea extract theaflavin can increase SOD activity in skin tissue of aging organisms, protect skin from superoxide anion radicals, and enhance with increasing theaflavin concentration, black tea extract can increase glutathione enzyme GSH-Px activity in skin tissue of aging organisms, and enhance with increasing theaflavin concentration, improve skin's self Black tea extract can increase the activity of catalase CAT in the skin tissue of aging organism, which is enhanced with the increase of theaflavin concentration, and reduce the content of oxidation products MDA in the skin of aging organism, and the effect of reduction is more obvious with the increase of theaflavin concentration, which can effectively slow down the aging speed of the skin.

Cholesterol lowering

Theaflavin can also effectively inhibit the synthesis of human cholesterol, and research shows that theaflavin helps to enhance the toughness and elasticity of blood vessel walls, thereby promoting the diastolic effect of blood vessels, thereby further preventing the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases.
